Olive cultivation

Olive - Olea europaea

The olive tree is an ancient plant. Its importance and contribution to the quality of life have been recognized since antiquity. The health benefits of olive oil have also been known since the time of Homer, who referred to olive oil as 'liquid gold'.

About

The olive tree is an evergreen plant with tough leaves and usually does not grow tall due to the influence of wind. Open locations exposed to strong winds are not suitable for olives, as the wind breaks branches and knocks off the fruits. The wood of the olive tree is very hard and, as such, highly valued in the timber industry.
The olive tree is exceptionally resilient, requiring minimal maintenance, but it does not tolerate low temperatures.
Regarding olive tree care, practices vary from person to person, but what everyone agrees on is that olives should be regularly pruned and fertilized.
